System Engineering is my major and Supply Chain and Logistics Management is my research field. Supply chain management (SCM) is the oversight of materials, information, and finances as they move in a process from supplier to manufacturer to wholesaler to retailer to consumer. Supply chain management involves coordinating and integrating these flows both within and among companies. It is said that the ultimate goal of any effective supply chain management system is to reduce inventory. Logistics is defined as a business planning framework for the management of material, service, information and capital flows. It includes the increasingly complex information, communication and control systems required in today's business environment.
1. The Research Trend in My Field
A synthesis supply chain is the complex structure of chain and network which consists of multi-object members and inter-dependent but contradictory organizations. If a knot party is locally searching for the optimal decision-making in terms of its own profit, profit conflict will be caused in the supply chain between different parties. Furthermore, the whole system will evolve with more complicated activities. Since the concept of an integrated supply chain was initiated, the research and application of integrated supply chains have made great progress. However, fierce competitions in today's global markets have forced business enterprises to focus attention on their supply chains. This, together with continuing advances in communications and transportation technologies has motivated the continuous evolution of supply chain and of techniques to manage it. Interest in supply chain management in terms of its application and study has growth rapidly over past several years. Therefore the traditional approaches applied in the study of supply chain can no longer solve emerging problems encountered in the quick development of supply chain. Moreover, along with the rapid development of information technologies, a lot of supply chain reengineering methods are applied in industry, which are not investigated thoroughly yet. It is of great importance to improve performance of supply chain.
2. My Own Research Direction
My own research direction is concerned with Optimization of Emergency Logistics Delivery Model Based on Biological Antiterrorism. Dealing with bioterrorist attack is complex systems engineering. How to optimize the emergency rescue service and the emergency allocation system scientifically, and enhance emergency safeguard and fight-flight reaction ability of entire logistics network, will become a key problem of how to enhance stability, the reliability and the time-limited of the biological counter-terrorism early warning defense system. The scientific and reasonable establishment of emergency rescue material reserves and emergency allocation system can form an emergency logistics network with high time-limited, and it could reduce the radius of emergency rescue.
We must strengthen our country’s biology counter-terrorism consciousness, and establish the biological counter-terrorism early warning defense system with the function of emergency rescue material reserves and emergency allocation system optimization, and enhance the ability to our country to safeguard the national security and public security ability. In the biological antiterrorism system, the emergency logistics is an important component, which is the foundation and precondition of safeguarding carrying out rescue activity.
After the public health event occurs suddenly, immediate arrival of rescue groups, the fast shift of personnel and property and convey and provide of rescue material have significant contributions to the advancement of emergency logistics response ability, saving the rescue time and the reduction of loss of life and property.
3. What I have done and what I will do
When I was still an undergraduate, I had taken great interest in supply chain and logistics management. My major is mathematics, but I often have classes of Department of Logistics Management Engineering and read some books about logistics in my spare time. So I chose it as my postgraduate research direction. From the beginning of this term, I began to read many literatures, both in and abroad. And I have made a good knowledge of what scholars have researched and are researching now.
Besides, I am taking part in several items. During completing the items, I learned a lot. Last semester, I took part in a project, whose name is MRO Inventory Reserves Collaborative Management System for YPC, and I stayed in YPC for about 4 months. They will help me in my building and solving all kinds of models.
After about one-year’s reading, I accumulate much knowledge of my research direction. Besides, I will continue to improve my English writing since it is really very important. Before I get my postgraduate degree, I will try to write some papers with high standard, especially my graduation thesis.
